That said, I do think Matt is hypocritical. Also, he’s Damon’s punching bag for the majority of the show, when if anything, Damon had no leg to stand on with that, considering the fact that he was the reason his sister died. I also don’t think he was wrong at all to hate the vampires, because Vicki was all that he had and he lost her because of them. I also liked his chemistry with Rebekah, Nadia, and Katherine, and I do think around season 5 or 6 he starts to become more badass and proactive about protecting himself. I feel like him and Caroline never really recovered as friends after dating). Particularly because of his friendships on the show (with Jeremy, Tyler, Bonnie, and Elena. He helped his friends without being supernatural and they should have made Matt into that. Like stiles was my favorite character, and I liked that he was this goofy human but still super smart. People explain that everybody hated him because he was just human when actually it was because his storylines and personality were boring. I mean he fought himself invincible He was also annoying in legacies. He became so entitled for example in the original we saw him and he pointed a gun at Finn and Elijah, glowing on how he killed Finn when the poor guy didn't do anything. They tried to give him so supernatural history in the last season but I didn't liked it, felt forced. His plotlines where he hated vampires were ridiculous and annoying. He was just whining the whole show, I mean he did had good moments but they were rare. They could have made him smart or something. I don't know some humor sarcasm, like the funny human who tries his best to survive and helps his friends. So true since he was the only human they could have given him a real personality. everyone has different opinions and if u love matt thats completely ok i was just answering OPs question :) (though matt has none of his charm and humour) (teen wolf spoilers btw) he couldve been more like stiles from teen wolf who never becomes supernatural really, but manages to pull his weight in the group and be one of the most useful to the show. ![]() or had a proper “goes to the bad side” moment? i just wish hed been more useful in the end and not just the designated human. ![]() like i said, i dont passionately hate him and i understand his grievances throughout the show (hell i cried whenever he reunited with vicky and i dont even like vicky that much either lol) but the show does nothing with him apart from make him hate all vampires one minute then be sleeping with one (rebecca) and be besties with one (elena) the next. honestly i dont understand how he survived the whole show bc he was the weakest character imo. i didnt exactly enjoy his scenes before then but i understood what his role was (elenas humanity and all that) but after s5 he started to think that all vampires are scum, including the ones who have been his “friends” and protecting the ppl he loves for years. imo the most annoying matt became is from around s6. ![]() yes, i know all of the main cast does but at least SOME of them actually die for real (even if they do end up returning but dont even get me started on the constant resurrections). It also annoys me how much plot armour he has. or if they wanted him to hate vamps so much then he couldve become an accomplice to the villain? or at least make him more useful than he overall was. for instance they couldve made him more Jeremy-like and had him become a hunter maybe. i think the writers missed the opportunity to actually do something with his character. what happened to penny and how he blamed stefan when he didnt even do anything?) i get why hes relatable, he lost family to vampires and feels like theyre solely responsible for the towns losses, but the way his character is written he comes off as whiny and annoying more than anything else. He’s just boring and some of the blame he places on vampires is really not their fault (e.g.
